BCAP STATEMENT ON NTIA “INTERNET FOR ALL” INITIATIVE

HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 20, 2022) – BCAP President Todd Eachus issued the following statement today regarding the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) recently announced launch of the “Internet For All” initiative, which will invest $45 billion to provide affordable, reliable, high-speed Internet for everyone in America by the end of the decade.
“The recent release of Notices of Funding Opportunity by NTIA is another step in the journey to connect all Pennsylvanians – and all Americans – to fast, reliable broadband service. BCAP members continue to work every day to expand their networks and work closely with government officials at all levels to address the digital divide, and continue their commitment to providing widespread access, affordability, equity and adoption of broadband. Not only do they have the experience and expertise necessary to build these networks, our companies will also be there for the long run to maintain, upgrade, invest and innovate as demand evolves. BCAP members are also fully committed to addressing all of the challenges to broadband adoption, particularly connecting lower-income consumers. We look forward to engaging with the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority as it assembles a plan that must remain laser-focused on the most important task at hand, which is to ensure that every citizen of the commonwealth has access to broadband service.”
The Broadband Communications Association of Pennsylvania (BCAP), a member-driven organization based in Harrisburg, actively promotes broadband and telecommunications industry issues in Pennsylvania. BCAP represents broadband cable operators, programmers and equipment suppliers that collectively provide service to nearly 3 million Pennsylvania households and businesses.
